Was pleasantly surprised to find this website offering linux graphics drivers, having had mixed success with ppas I've tried so far, thought it might do the trick (mostly things work, but hoping for...
So, it seems to me, "only on this workspace" actually means "only on one workspace which may or may not be this one" ... (but that was too long to fit in the context menu)... no?
Found this definition:
Sticky: These windows are visible on every desktop/workspace/viewport at once.
Here:
http://wiki.compiz.org/WindowMatching
So I wonder if Compiz's "sticky"...
Okay, looking in CCSM, the advanced search found "sticky" in three places: Desktop Wall, Window Rules, and Workarounds... I don't have Window Rules on, so it's one of the other two? Under Desktop...
Just noticed this problem myself when trying to figure out what ccsm setting was currently hosing my system. Maybe the spammers clicked the wrong button in ccsm, and it started the avalanche. ...
I keep getting applications that want to jump to another workspace. (GIMP is the one I'm noticing at the moment, but I've seen in others as well.) I just checked, and "only on this workspace" is...
Posted this as a bug at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1138874
Haven't found a solution yet.
The problem is that the high contrast window control buttons are very low...
Getting this problem in PRECISE... should we delete the precise main binary i386 lists file?
If you really need a CD, you can do a minimal install:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD
(The USB is probably a better solution though.)
Okay, fixed that and a couple other things (dash wasn't working, for example), by following these steps from:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/130443/how-to-run-compiz-on-unity-2d-ubuntu-12-04
...
Solved? (Not sure this is a good solution yet, really though...)
Tried compiz --replace to dump metacity (still in Unity 2D though)...
The glitch is gone. But now other strange things...
Hello?!?
Is anybody out there?
If so, can you at least confirm or deny you see the same border glitch when using Unity 2D???
(The most reliable test looks to be starting a gedit session,...
Tried using gconf-editor to turn on:
/apps/metacity/general/compositor-effects
But it's still there. Other failures have included:
unity --reset
Turning off "window decoration" in ccsm
...
Okay, got a picture of it...
P.S. Tried to do a screen capture of it, but the line disappears when I press "print screen"...
Anyone else noticing this!?
This worked fine. Marking thread solved.
Checked out Lubuntu in virtualbox, seems like this should work.
No. I do get a message that it's shutting down, but then it doesn't shut down. Maybe it's shutting yours down? (Just joking!)
Have you tried (at a command line)
xinput list
xinput float #
where # is the ID # of the touchpad?
(P.S. Used this method in Gnomish Ubuntu... not sure if it'll work with LXDE...
Another detail I've noticed...
this occurs under Unity 2D. When I switched to 3D, it went away. (Of course, there was some reason I switched to 2D quite a while back, which I'll probably...
Another detail I've noticed about this... the border pops up on the top and left sides of maximized windows when switching from one tab to another... it's not just firefox, can do it in Gedit also.
...
Only noticed this since today's update... a weird one-pixel border at the top of maximized windows... can see it in firefox when a page refreshes, then it disappears.
It's an irritating glitch...
I've tried using the methods discussed under other forum posts, but they all seem to be designed for earlier versions of Ubuntu.
How would one use a Canon ip1800 printer with Precise(12.04)?
...
Okay, so the problem is, I have a bad habit of staying up all night posting progressively dumber messages on internet forums.
In other words, making sure the computer shuts down every night at...
Not sure what I'm doing wrong... I tried following the directions, but I'm still getting, "Could not determine type of stream" when I try to play some videos.
