I am having a very similar issue.
I've tried multiple things to fix my problem, everything from using "rm" on the xorg.conf file and doing a reboot (this gets the GUI back up, but that's about it)...
I've been trying to use winetricks to get the files, and it's plain not working. I get "QueryServiceConfig2W Level 6 not implemented" errors.
Any ideas?
Tried both the winetricks option and the manual download option, neither worked for me.
Congratulations, PariahVayne, on being immature enough to mock someone with a picture of a young adult who obviously has Fragile X Syndrome or another form of low-functioning autism. Do you, as an...
Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Like all things in life, there is a finite number of gamers. We'll call gamers X. Now, take those gamers, and multiply them times .25, that's the number of...
Yes, I have Triple Buffering enabled.
The problem seems to have not gone away, now I'm wondering if the issue isn't the RAM on the Video Card.
As dumb as this sounds, I believe I solved the problem by disabling the power saver features associated with monitor's in Linux. By turning them from 5 minutes to Never, the problem seems to be...
I appreciate the advice. I downloaded the 173 drivers and installed them. WoW does not work with those drivers any longer. :( It says I need a 3D Accelerator with Dual-TMU support.
First, let me apologize for posting this. I've searched the forums in depth, and the web, in general, and I've yet to come up with a reliable solution.
Problem:
When I run WoW under WINE, I seem...
Made a modification to the origional script I wrote, I recommend you change it. Only true difference is that it changes the permissions from 755 to 750, a security enhancement.
Alright, this is probably not the best method, but it is what I used.
Step 1: Creating a shell script
Open gedit (Applications/Accessories)
In gedit, type:
Obviously change the <user>...
Cancel that, lemme fiddle and I'll post a line that works. :)
I have the same problem.
My Lexar USB Flashdrive is not showing up. When I connect another media device after boot (ex: iPod) it'll pop up both the iPod and the Lexar drive.
I also seem to be...
256m for the alternative CD, IIRC, 356m for the normal CD.
Is this with the alternative CD?
I could be wrong, of course. :)
Ok, I may sound like a complete newbie, but I thought I'd share.
When I installed 9.04 I was horrified and dismayed to see Nautilus (labeled "File Browser" by default) missing from my Applications...
Have you tried using a different networking agent than Nautilus? I know that in 64-bit, my Nautilus will not recognize many of the computers on my network.
I can only contribute two things.
(1) One reason why the disk may work fine is the mechanics. As far as I know, when you boot off the CD most, if not all, the operating system is loaded into...
I have goofed around with both Banshee and Rhythmbox. I found Banshee to be annoying and congested. Rhythmbox is sleek, does what I want, only what I want, and does it quickly.
You can copy...
Thanks a ton! I'm rather new to ubuntu and did not know that!
I'm checking out the Alternative CD as well as xbuntu.
So I pulled my nine year old laptop out of the closet, tore it to pieces, painted it, stuck a large ubuntu symbol on the front and planned to turn it from a Fujitsu Lifebook i4187 (dubbed the...

Just a quick update, if I may. :)
I decided on a brand of paint called "SEM" which is specifically designed for vinyl dashes, seats, and carpet. It claims to be "flexible" and the hot paint girl...
