Problem on PanP7 with Fingerprint reader

Correction to the title, the machine is a panp7.

I have a brand new Pangolin (It arrived yesterday).

I followed the instructions on Knowledge76 for "How to use the Fingerprint Reader" (not how to install it), but if I use FingerprintGUI from System>Preferences, then try and scan, a dialog pops up nearly instantly telling me that it could not read the print. I tried installing fprint-demo, but it tells me that there is not device installed. Similar results come from running pam_fprint_enroll at the terminal.

Is this a permissions problem? I'd like to be able to use my reader.

EDIT: I should point out that I have installed the System76 drivers and lsusb shows the scanner, as below:

    Code:
    Bus 002 Device 003: ID 147e:1000 Upek

Imaged a system. Same results. Doing further testing.

Our R&D guy is out of town for about a week. I've sent him an email requesting further info on this. I'll report back here as soon as I hear from him.

Just heard back from the R&D guy, and we're definitely having an issue with the fingerprint reader on the PanP7 and the Bonobo. It works perfectly on the Servarl.

We will start working on it when he gets back.

Great. I'll bring the computer in when I start there. I'm the new guy.

Re: Problem on PanP5 with Fingerprint reader

    eitan,

There is a problem getting the fingerprint reader to work with the new Pangolins (panp7). We're working on that one.

As for the earlier Pangolins, we're not yet sure if it is the same problem.

Same issue on brand new out of the box. Got a time line for a fix to this one?

Thank you for all your help resolving this one.
