hsfmodem not detecting Thinkpad T60 dial up modem

    Hi,

I'm currently running Ubuntu 11.04 on my IBM Thinkpad T60. The Kernel version is 2.6.38-8-generic. I've installed the generic drivers from the linuxant website, but the driver doesn't detect that there's a modem installed. The modem works fine in Windows. I went through an extensive guide found in another thread, but this didn't solve the issue. I'm now noticing that after I restarted my sound driver disappeared and now there's no sound. I'm really frustrated with this because I would really like for the modem to work, in case I ever need to use it where wireless isn't available. Has anyone gotten the modem to work on the Thinkpad T60?

Here is the output of lspci:

Necrothread, necrothread! I know, I know! But it needs an answer for when it turns up in a search.

My T60 uses a Conexant chip - I think they all do. Some people have found a solution - but I haven't gotten mine working yet - so I am just listing the resource:
