Copying .wine to new ubuntu install

I decided to test out Lucid and ended up liking it. There is one old windows program that I have to use on my computer. It installed perfectly under the version of wine bundled with Karmic, unfortunately the installer doesn't work in Lucid.

Instead of trying to figure out why the installer isn't working, I copied the '.wine' folder from my 9.10 partition to my home partition in 10.04 and my program works perfectly. I know this is probably a fairly ham-handed approach to fixing the issue. So my question is:

Should I expect any stability / performance issues related to overwriting the ".wine" folder in 10.04 with the ".wine" folder from 9.10?

Thanks. I tend to get nervous when things are too easy.
